The Baby Boomers Impact on society is huge

The size impact

The Baby Boomers impact on modern society is disproportionate to the size of the group. The generation that matured in post-war America is now (2007) between the ages of 43 to 61.

77 million American children were born between 1945 and 1964. The group represent a cohort that is significant on for its size alone. Boomers comprise nearly 27% of the US population. The Baby Boomers are the dominant generational group in American society.

Even more importantly than the sheer size of the group are the demographics. The age range of the group places them in senior leadership positions in society, Business, Government, and family relationships. The group holds an outsized percentage of the key decision makers in society. We are the dominant leadership age group in American society. We are the parents, and grandparents of the younger generations in society and we are the children of the already retired senior population.

Economic Impact

The Baby Boomers impact the economic climate of the world. We are the wealthiest demographic that include a majority of the owners and managers of businesses and institutions. We control over 7 TRILLION in wealth and own 77% of the financial assets in the US.

Presently Baby Boomers have the highest median household incomes in the United States. The Baby Boomers have annual earning power of 2.1 TRILLION dollars and represent 50% of all discretionary spending power. That is a lot of economic clout!

Cultural and Political Impact

The Baby Boomers effect on American culture and politics has been profound. Baby boomers presently make up the lion's share of the political, cultural, industrial, and academic leadership class in the United States. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, born within sixty days of each other in mid-1946, are the first and second Baby Boomer U.S. presidents, and their careers in office illustrate the wide, often diverging, spectrum of values and attitudes espoused by this largest American generational group to date.
